What you’ll need:

  • A baking tray/dish.
  • Some baking parchment.
  • 5 Tablespoons of granulated sugar.
  • 2 Tablespoons of golden syrup.
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of bicarb of soda.
  • A saucpan & a spoon.

This is super easy, and super quick.

Pop the sugar and golden syrup into your saucepan, mix them together, and put on the hob. You want it to bubble and turn a deep golden brown. Turn the heat off, pour the bicarb of soda in and stir like crazy. It is going to be magical and wonderful. Pour it onto the parchment quickly, let it cool.

Yummy.

Also in the kitchen today, little individual flan patissieres. It’s been so cold and bitterly wintry today that these are the perfect treats.

Pre-oven, it’s a thick custardy base. After fifteen minutes, it turns a lovely golden brown.

I also had a cake pop day on wednesday evening creating these little bites of delight.

My friends seemed to like them, so I might try making them again with more contrasting and unusual flavour combos. Maybe sponge, marmalade & dark chocolate to make a jaffa pop? Or Marzipan, cherry jam and sponge for a bakewell pop? So many possibilities!
